Help hurts

Every so often, I like to pretend I am normal, not someone with a devastating disability. It never ends well.

Yesterday I pretended. Last night I had to disturb my sister at her first party in the new house to help me. She, of course, did ... without complaint.

I haven't been living with my sister's family for six months, and I hate my disability do  much more than i did.

first of all it was not the first party...second of all of course i didn't complain...third of all you were kind to neglect the mention of the toe that might have almost been run over by me with your chair...fourth of all don't hate it on my account...and fifth, I love you

People in every walk, level and corner of life would rnvy the devotion you offer and receive from your family. I'm sorry you felt that way...please take heart.

And a party ain't a party till someone feels like shit, anyway.

I completely agree with all of the comments. Focus on how much better things are in your new surroundings! And knowing, Emily, she was looking for a break to get away from all of the craziness! Don't be so hard on yourself.I hated it on Friday night when I had to take friends out of my living room at 10 p.m. because I needed to rest my butt. But having people over was better than not doing it all.Friends and family that love you would be even more mad if you didn't speak up!

The fact that I am surrounded by people who shower me with unconditional love is awesome. But it also makes the worse bits of a disability hurt more because who wants to hurt those who love you so?

by asking for help you are NOT hurting those who love you. You would be hurting them if you didn't ask when you needed it.
