Really?

I actually cursed a woman out today.

Don't get me wrong, she did not hear me. She was on the other side of the door. I did curse her out loud, but I spoke quietly. And my quiet talk is most people's whisper, so I am sure the people on my side of the door did not hear me. They may have seen my withering stare at the stupid woman, though.

I was leaving work for the day, I pressed the button to open the door, and I started to head out. That's when the stupid woman, who was just waiting outside the door, walked right in.

She did say excuse me, but give me a break. It would kill you to let a wheelchair user out the door he opened? Or maybe she thought that I opened the door just for her? Because few things could give me greater pleasure.

Dummy.

people are unbelievable. here's what i try to remember when the human race starts to annoy me beyond distraction: Maybe - just maybe - this woman was having the worst day of her life and simply wasn't thinking clearly. Maybe she just found out her husband is leaving her or maybe her best friend was just diagnosed with cancer or maybe her dog just died. Then again, maybe she's just one more jerk in a sea of many. ;)

Running over people is messy, and you know, Colleen, I did consider that she was having a bad day. Mom gives everyone that benefit of the doubt.

Our mother is a saint.

You mother is just plain old smart. Giving the benefit of the doubt makes everyone feel better...the crime is mitigated, the maligned is slightly less so. It's all good and not quite as giving as it seems. (Not that I am dissing your mom.)

btw, my super secret publishing word thing was "racier". This one is "gritt". I wonder what that means?

I am uncomfortable thinking about racier and my mom.
